Judith McCann glass lapis hoop earrings from the 1950s to early 1960s (She retired in 1964). Judith McCann was known as the inventor for her patented Wingback earrings in 1947. These earrings are one of her Hoopon designs. These Hoopon earrings are an ornate golden hoop with glass lapis stones. The deep blue art glass stones have tiny golden specks. Hoops measure just over 1 and 1/4 inch across.
To slip the Hoopon on your ear, you put one end to the back of the earlobe, and the other in front through the V (where the earlobe attaches by your face) then along the curve toward the back of the ear. One end of the hoop sits above the ear lobe (in the concha or concula of ear) and the other is at the back of the ear. No pressure on the ear while you wear it. To remove, pull the bottom of the Hoopon toward the chin.
