French necklace signed Murat and hallmarked. Gold filled necklace of three rows of faceted links. Measures 16 and 3/8 inches in length.
Murat is a French jewelry company which began in the mid 1800’s founded by Charles Murat. It was originally located in Paris and quickly became one of the most successful jewelry businesses in France. In the mid 1850’s the company began a process they called "doublé or" (double gold). In 1968, the company was acquired by a larger jewelry company, but continued to produce high-quality jewelry under the Murat name. The company continues today.
